LED TVs – How to choose one for your home

LED TVs are the next step in evolution after LCD and plasma TVs. Needles to say, many individuals want to buy an LED for their home. Following are some key points to take care of while taking the decision.

·         There are different screen sizes of an LED TV, and one needs to consider the size of the room before finalizing on the size of the screen. Ideally, 2-3 times the size of the TV measured diagonally should be the viewing distance for a good picture quality.
·         Resolution plays a key role in deciding the quality of picture one would get. The highest resolution is 1080p and 1080i, with the former using the progressive scan technique and the latter using the interlaced video codec, both having a 1920X1080 pixel resolution. However, the better choice is the TV with progressive scan.
·         The higher the contrast ratio of the TV, the better it is. An ideal contrast ratio for LED TVs is 5000:1, since it ensures detailed picture even during low lighting conditions in the movie or any broadcast.
·         Deciding on the kind of sound one wants is very important, since an LED TV is a huge investment. These days a majority of the televisions are coming with in-build speakers, but one needs to check which among the options delivers the best sound.
